King Mohammed VI’s Casablanca Visit Sparks Preparations and Uncertainty

King Mohammed VI is expected in Casablanca for an official visit that should include the inauguration of several major projects in the city. But new rumors suggest the visit could be postponed, which has caused great agitation among local authorities.
According to sources cited by Alyaoum24, it is a state of emergency to welcome the sovereign without a hitch. Strict instructions have been given to cleaning companies to thoroughly clean the main streets of the city. The authorities have also evacuated sub-Saharan African migrants who had occupied certain streets of the city to avoid any risk of disruption during the royal visit.
The governor of the Casablanca-Settat region, Said Ahmidouch, and the mayor of the city, Nabila Rmili, have held several meetings in preparation for the royal visit. King Mohammed VI’s visit could boost several construction sites, particularly in the areas of transportation, culture, services and investment.
However, the local authorities have been criticized for their slowness in carrying out major projects in Casablanca, particularly in the outlying neighborhoods of the city, which still suffer from a lack of services and facilities.
