King Mohammed VI Calls for New Generation of Ministers in Moroccan Government Reshuffle

In light of the royal speech delivered on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI, the days of the El Othmani government are numbered. Several well-known figures in the Executive will have to be relieved of their portfolios to make way for a new generation of ministers.
The royal speech was as clear as can be: "A new generation of projects will take shape in the next stage. But it will require a new elite of skills, at various levels of responsibility. Fresh blood will have to be injected into the institutions, the political, economic and administrative bodies, including the Government."
The Sovereign has thus entrusted Saadeddine El Othmani with the task of proposing high-level national skills for positions of responsibility, within the Government and the administrations.
Among the personalities who are likely to lose their ministerial portfolio, the Minister of Industry, Investment and Trade, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, figures first. Victim of royal outbursts on several occasions, he failed in the implementation and success of the 2014-2020 Industrial Acceleration Plan.
The list could also include the Minister of Employment and Professional Integration, Mohamed Yatim, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Aziz Rebbah, as well as the Minister of Equipment and Transport, Abdelkader Aamara. Another Minister, with a controversial portfolio, Anas Doukkali, should be among the outgoing. During his term, the health sector has experienced a lot of turmoil, both with the medical profession and with medical students.
