King Mohammed VI to Appoint Members to Key Constitutional Councils

King Mohammed VI is expected to appoint members to the two new constitutional bodies in the coming days, namely the Constitutional Council for Youth and Associative Work, and that for Family and Childhood.
The 2011 Constitution had allowed the emergence of a new political landscape and new institutions. Among these bodies, only the Constitutional Council for Youth and Associative Work and that for Family and Childhood had remained without representation.
According to the website rue20, a list of candidates had been proposed to the Sovereign for positions within the two Councils by the Head of Government and the presidents of the two houses of parliament.
Furthermore, the site adds that political parties are starting to jostle to be part of the candidates appointed to the two Councils, especially since the financial compensation provided is substantial.
