Kickboxer Jamal Ben Saddik sentenced to four years in prison for the kidnapping of a dockworker
Moroccan champion Jamal Ben Saddik is trading the rings for a cell. The Antwerp court sentenced him to four years in prison for his central role in the kidnapping of a dockworker, a heavy sentence that adds to a series of legal and sporting setbacks.
The Antwerp Criminal Court has recognized the direct responsibility of the heavyweight in this criminal case. The judges considered that the 35-year-old athlete acted as a driving force behind the kidnapping, leading to the conviction of three other suspects to sentences ranging from thirty months to four years in prison.
This verdict adds to the criminal record of the Antwerp fighter. Last June, the courts had already sanctioned him on appeal with forty months in prison, half of which were suspended, for money laundering.
Ben Saddik’s sports career is sinking in parallel with his legal troubles. The Glory organization had suspended him for six months in 2024 following a kick aimed at Rico Verhoeven after a match. Also sanctioned in the past for doping and defeated twice in world title fights, he returned to the ring last August to suffer a KO defeat against Levi Rigters.
