Kenitra Gendarmerie Busts Gang Targeting Businessmen in Currency Scam

The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of Kenitra dismantled at the beginning of the week, a band of hooded individuals who rob business people. Three individuals were neutralized and six others are actively being searched for nationwide.
The modus operandi is very precise: spot business people, and then lure them to other municipalities in the region, or to deserted areas, to relieve them of the money they are carrying, under threat of a weapon, explains the daily Assabah. For the case that led to the dismantling of the said band, some of its members had contacted a businessman from Casablanca, offering to sell him a batch of currency they would have found on the beaches of Kenitra. Interested, the businessman had traveled to the region, where the individuals had kidnapped him and robbed him of the money he had in his possession, reports the same source.
The Royal Gendarmerie services then located the band and proceeded to arrest three elements, respectively natives of Sidi Yahia El Gharb, Sidi Slimane and Sidi Allal Tazi, specifies the newspaper, adding that the band has already made many victims in the region, especially among the promoters of the wood markets.
To recall, a few months ago, other gangs of criminals were neutralized in the region. 26 suspects, including repeat offenders, have been arrested since last year, notes the same source. But despite the arrest and publication of the bands and their modus operandi, people continue to fall into their trap, the daily remarks.
