Italian Officials Face Charges After Moroccan Man Killed by Falling Tree at Naples Racetrack

Four officials have been prosecuted by the Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office for involuntary manslaughter of a Moroccan national, who died crushed by a tree in the parking lot of a racetrack.
Last December, Mohamed Boulhaziz, a 62-year-old Moroccan citizen, succumbed to his injuries following the fall of a tree uprooted by strong winds within the Ippodromo di Agnano in Naples.
Summons were sent by the Naples Public Prosecutor to four public officials, on the charge of involuntary manslaughter. These include two officials from the Ippodromo di Agnano office, the artistic director of the horse race, and the head of an association in charge of organizing a discount fair for craft products.
The investigation conducted by two public prosecutors, in coordination with the delegate, aims to determine the responsibilities of each party regarding the management of trees within the racetrack parking lot.
