Israeli President Praises Morocco’s King for Promoting Jewish-Muslim Coexistence

King Mohammed VI’s visit last Wednesday to the old medina of Essaouira continues to arouse admiration within the Jewish community of Morocco and elsewhere. The Israeli President, Reuven Rivlin, has expressed his gratitude to the King for honoring with his presence this spiritual and heritage space for the preservation and enhancement of Judeo-Moroccan memory.
The Israeli President said he was pleased to see that, like his ancestors, Mohammed VI maintains "close ties with the Jews of Morocco and fosters coexistence between Muslims, Jews and Christians".
Bayt Dakira is a place of memory that tells, through objects, texts, photographs and films, the history of Judaism in the city of Essaouira and its heritage.
It is also a place of pedagogy on the history of the Relationship between Judaism and Islam, which constitutes a space for exchanges between researchers from various backgrounds and a space for sharing and transmission.
