Israeli Diplomat Faces Rental Challenges in Morocco’s Capital

Six months after taking office, the head of the Israeli liaison office, David Govrin, is desperately searching for an office to rent in Rabat.
David Govrin has so far been unable to find rental premises for the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, reports the Israeli daily Haaretz. The reason is the refusal of landlords to rent him premises in the areas he is looking for. As a result, the Israeli diplomat is still based in a hotel in the capital Rabat.
In the meantime, the Moroccan government has offered the Israeli diplomat to settle in a building far from the city center where the former headquarters of the Israeli liaison office was located. An offer that David Govrin has not accepted. He prefers premises in the diplomatic district near other embassies, his hope being that the mission will one day become an embassy.
