Israel Breaks Ground on New Embassy in Morocco, Marking Diplomatic Milestone

Israel is working to open its embassy in Morocco. Alona Fisher-Kamm, acting head of the Israeli liaison office in Morocco, laid the first stone of the building that will house it in Rabat.
In a post on Twitter, Alona Fisher-Kamm announced the laying of the first stone of the future Israeli embassy building in Rabat. "This is a historic moment and we are very happy to be here today and, God willing, within a year we will have our own home! It will not only be an embassy, but a home for all Israelis in Morocco," she wrote. The ceremony for the laying of the first stone took place on Wednesday. The Israeli diplomat says she is proud of "this important step."
In 2022, a contract had been signed between the Israeli liaison office and a Moroccan company for the construction work of the embassy. Rabat and Tel Aviv had decided in August 2021 to transform their liaison offices into official embassies. An agreement had thus been concluded between the two parties during the historic visit of Yaïr Lapid, then Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs.
