Israel and Morocco’s Decades-Long Secret Military Alliance Revealed

Morocco and Israel have maintained close relations for many years, and this in almost all areas. On the security level, cooperation between the two countries is most often secret, through the exchange of intelligence information and a fairly sophisticated arms trade.
According to a British report, Israel had shipped tanks to Morocco, and other weapons including "Heron" drones delivered via France in the 1970s. In 2013, the Moroccan Air Force bought three "Heron" drones manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries for a cost of $50 million. Israeli military exports are said to have intensified between 2000 and 2020 and have remained mostly secret. Israel and Morocco therefore have an interest and a capacity to help each other in dealing with external security challenges based on their experience, reports Haaretez.
In terms of security, Morocco will always be able to count on the great experience of the Hebrew state, particularly through the construction of the security wall in its southeastern provinces. Over the past decades, Israel is said to have sold arms and security equipment to 130 different countries. The latest SIPRI report ranks Israel as the eighth largest arms exporter in the world.
