Interior Minister Eases Intercity Travel Restrictions for Workers in Morocco

The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, has partially lifted the decision, which came into effect on March 21, prohibiting intercity travel due to the state of health emergency.
In a circular addressed to the Walis and Governors dated May 26, the Ministry of the Interior has exempted personnel from public administrations and private companies from the derogatory travel certificate issued by the public authorities.
Only the mission order, sealed and signed by the employer or the administrative officer, will be required at the security checkpoints set up at the various prefectures and provinces of the country, the circular points out.
The lifting of the ban aimed at combating the spread of the coronavirus does not concern private cars or private and public means of transport.
The new measure is part of the guidelines of the Moroccan government intended to revive the national economic fabric, which has been severely affected by the pandemic.
