Interfaith Ramadan Dinner Unites Muslims, Jews, and Christians in Morocco

The 7th edition of the "Plural Ftour" brought together the different religious components in Morocco last Sunday. Thus, around the same table for the breaking of the fast, Muslims, Jews and Christians, in a spirit of tolerance, diversity and sharing, once again gave proof of an active brotherhood that Morocco has never ceased to promote.

To send a message of peace and tolerance to the whole world. This is the objective of this approach that honors these different religious congregations. "Peace is not an empty word, but a behavior," says the adage. And this was indeed reflected on the occasion of the "Plural Ftour", an initiative of the associations "Marocains Pluriels" and "Diapason" strongly supported by the Parish of Saint Jacques de Mohammedia.

Placed under the theme of "Mingled Voices", this 7th edition of the "Plural Ftour" is in line with the spirit of the recent visit to Morocco by Pope Francis, at the invitation of King Mohammed VI. We remember that on this occasion, the "Juniors" of the association "Marocains Pluriels" had offered the Sovereign Pontiff "the Argan Tree of Fraternity".

There were a little over 200 people around this Plural Ftour, which was attended by representatives of the three religions: the Apostolic Nuncio, the Archbishop of Rabat, Imam Omar El Mrini, the Chief Rabbi of Casablanca Josef Israël, Rabbi Jacquy Sebag, Father Manuel of the Order of the Holy Franciscans.

André Azoulay, Advisor to King Mohammed VI, was also present and delivered a strong message. "We are sharing an exceptional moment tonight. It is the fruit of a will and the expression of a civilization. It is the expression of an initiative that is that of civil society. We are here from the heart, because we want to and we find pleasure and happiness in it," he rejoiced.

He will be supported by the president of the Zawia Harakia Chadilia Darkawia of the Casablanca-Settat region, Acharif Omar Lamrani Lamrini. The latter stated that this evening "is an opportunity for representatives of the three monotheistic religions to discuss various issues of common interest, recalling that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance". An opportunity, said Father Julien, parish priest of Saint Jacques de Mohammedia, which is "an important occasion for the Christian community, which weaves good relations with Moroccans, Jews and Muslims".
