An "InDrive" driver violently assaulted in Casablanca (video)

In Casablanca, tensions are rising again between users of smart applications and taxi drivers. The lack of a law regulating this new type of transport is detrimental to the drivers.
In a video posted on social media, we see a driver working with the "Indrive" application harassed and attacked by owners of small taxis, in the company of a terrified woman. These small taxi drivers have surrounded the "Indrive" application user and have broken the windshield of his car. They also tried to "stop" him inside the car and assault him. The passenger starts to scream. "In Morocco, young people are risking their lives by working as drivers for Uber-type applications. Faced with them, traditional taxis are organizing ambushes, physically attacking them," comments the Laarabi account on X (ex-Twitter), calling on the authorities to put an end to this anarchy.
In 2022, similar incidents took place in Casablanca. A driver was surrounded by small taxi drivers near the "Casa Voyageurs" station after trying to transport three women. Another driver was the victim of extortion on the way to Ain Diab. The taxi driver literally snatched the car keys from him. These acts followed the denunciations of the professionals in the sector. They had criticized the applications and denounced unfair competition. "Smart applications remain an illegal means, assimilable to secret transport, which requires the intervention of the competent authorities to put an end to it," they had criticized.
