In Agadir, Some Villas Now Exceed 4000 DH per Day

The summer pressure is driving up prices sharply in the capital of Souss. The president of the National Federation of Consumer Protection Associations indicates that furnished apartments are rented for between 700 and 1500 dirhams per day, reports Alyaoum24.

For furnished villas, the bill can reach 3500 to 4000 dirhams per day. At this rate, a week’s holiday can cost more than 28,000 dirhams for accommodation alone. This surge contrasts with the ranking published a few months earlier that named Agadir one of the most affordable destinations for summer 2026.

But the price is not the only cause of dissatisfaction. Some holidaymakers say they discovered, after paying substantial sums, that the apartments did not meet expected cleanliness standards, notably because of the presence of insects and mosquitoes.

The organization also notes high prices for chairs and parasols on some beaches, as well as the general rise in expenses that accompanies holidays. This situation weighs particularly on Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) after sometimes traveling several thousand kilometers to spend the summer in Morocco.

High prices, but services that are sometimes disappointing

At these rates, holidaymakers logically expect a certain level of service. Yet the association reports other difficulties, particularly the lack of accessible public toilets in some very busy neighborhoods. In Hay Salam, finding a toilet can thus become complicated in the evening when crowds increase.

This gap between prices and services is fueling criticism. It echoes criticism already voiced by MREs facing soaring holiday costs in Morocco.

The National Federation of Consumer Protection Associations believes that inspections remain insufficient during the high season. It is calling for more regular monitoring of rentals and services offered to visitors, as well as better preparation of infrastructure before the massive arrival of summer holidaymakers.

In Agadir, the rise in prices is therefore no longer going unnoticed. And at more than 4000 dirhams per day for some villas, the slightest unpleasant surprise becomes difficult to accept.
