Imlil Terror Suspects Planned Poison Attacks on Moroccan Officials, Trial Reveals

On May 2, the trial of the 24 terrorists prosecuted for the murder of the two Scandinavian tourists whose bodies were found near Mount Toubkal began. Among other things, it emerged that they had planned to kill personalities using rodenticides.
According to Maghreb-Intelligence: "In addition to having planned several attacks against tourist sites, banks and the Jewish community, the accused had admitted to having intended to use rat poison to assassinate civilian and military personalities in Marrakech."
They had even tested the effectiveness of the product on... rabbits! The latter even claimed that these tests had revealed the effectiveness of the rodenticides... Their arrests therefore prevented several other attacks, and in all likelihood avoided many deaths.
The trial will resume on May 16. A black date in the history of Morocco, as 16 years ago, on May 16, 2003, five terrorist suicide bombings took place in Casablanca, killing 41 people and injuring about a hundred. These attacks are considered the deadliest in the history of Morocco and targeted a hotel and a restaurant, the building of the Jewish Alliance, the Jewish cemetery and the Belgian consulate.
To recall, the lifeless bodies of Maren Ueland and Louisa Vesterager Jespersen were found on December 17 last year in the Imlil region. They would have been executed by individuals who had pledged allegiance to Daesh.
