Iconic Sahara Ultramarathon Postponed to September Amid Coronavirus Concerns

The 35th Marathon des Sables will no longer be held from April 3 to 13, 2020, in Morocco, due to the coronavirus. The event has been postponed to September.
This postponement follows a circular from the Ministry of the Interior, which prohibits all sporting, cultural, etc. events during the month of March. "As a precaution, we prefer to anticipate and take our responsibilities," the race organization said in a statement released on Saturday, March 7, 2020.
"For the well-being of all, and for the pleasure we wish to preserve within the MDS family, this decision seems unfortunately inevitable," it adds. However, this race is not canceled. A new date has been communicated. The Marathon des Sables will therefore take place from September 18 to 28, 2020.
