Iconic Marrakech Hotel La Mamounia Remains World’s Most Sought-After Luxury Destination

Nearly 100 years after its opening, La Mamounia, the legendary hotel in Marrakech, remains as majestic and attractive as ever, and even more so, the most sought-after hotel in the world.
Converted into a hotel in the early 1900s, the historic building housing La Mamounia is a former palace belonging to the Moroccan royal family. The great of this world, like Churchill or Caroline of Monaco, have stayed there. In 2019, the general manager of La Mamounia, Pierre Jochem, commissioned architects and designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku to rehabilitate the hotel and bring it a touch of freshness and modernity, ten years after the last renovation work in 2009.
Nearly 100 years after its opening, La Mamounia in Marrakech has lost none of its charm and luxury and remains one of the most sought-after hotels in the world. The legendary hotel has managed to combine past, present and future in a unique and exceptional environment, especially in terms of architecture and decoration: mosaic floors, sculpted plasters or handmade and custom-made wooden furniture, etc. The interior of La Mamounia is a showcase of Moroccan craftsmanship, indicates Viajes.
The scent of La Mamounia is unique, a blend of tanned leather, bitter orange and rose petals. It remains the unforgettable memory of every visitor. Not to mention the superb view of the Atlas Mountains, visible from almost anywhere in the hotel. Outside, the gardens, the hotel’s spa with Zellige tiles, the hammam, the pool and other places offer comfort and relaxation to travelers.
With the 2019 renovation, the hotel has completely rethought its restaurants and bars. Its restaurant Le Français has become L’Italien with a view of the hotel garden, and serves the best pizzas in Marrakech. Two other restaurants, L’Asiatique and Le Marocain, have been added. Its famous bar, Le Churchill, usually reserved for parties, has been transformed into a very intimate place, available for about twenty customers who are now offered homemade caviar. With its 135 rooms, 71 suites and three riads, La Mamounia continues to seduce its many visitors.
