Human Remains Unearthed During Road Construction in Chichaoua, Morocco

The remains of a human skeleton were discovered on Saturday, November 2 in Mejjat in the province of Chichaoua, during the construction work of a secondary road.
According to the daily newspaper Assabah, as the operator began digging a trench on a public road, he exhumed a body from the excavation. Approaching it, the workers discovered, to their great surprise, the remains of a human skeleton.
Alerted, the local authorities, accompanied by the Royal Gendarmerie, went to the site, before calling in the technical and scientific team from the Judicial Brigade.
On the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the skeletal remains were transferred to the laboratory to identify the victim through an autopsy of the body.
Meanwhile, an investigation was opened by the services of the Royal Gendarmerie to determine the circumstances of this case and the motives behind the burial of the body outside the cemetery.
