Hotel Employee in Fez Sentenced to 2 Years for Attempted Rape of American Tourist

An employee of a hotel in Fez was sentenced by the court of first instance of the city to two years in prison for "attempted rape and indecent assault with violence" on a foreign tourist staying at the hotel.
The young man was arrested after the complaint filed by the tourist with the judicial police of Fez, accusing him of sexual harassment and attempted rape. Heard as part of an investigation opened by the competent public prosecutor’s office, the defendant appeared at a first hearing during which the judge gave him a week to appoint a lawyer and prepare his defense.
The tourist, an American of Indian origin, did not join the civil party for the trial, since she had left the kingdom after the end of her vacation. At the second hearing held on August 1st, the hotel employee was sentenced to the two-year prison sentence requested by the public prosecutor’s office for "attempted rape and indecent assault with violence". He will serve his sentence in the local prison of Bourkaiz.
