Host Momo pays cash for a prank

Mohamed Bousfiha (alias Momo) was presented on Tuesday before the prosecutor of the Casablanca court. The radio host is accused of having intentionally disclosed false information on the air.
Mohamed Bousfiha, as well as two other people, were before the prosecutor on Tuesday, according to sources at Barlamane.com, noting that the host is suspected of having deliberately broadcast a hoax on the radio.
Momo had announced a purse snatching that never occurred. The information was relayed by various media for several hours before the authorities discovered that it was a hoax.
The public prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation for "denunciation of imaginary crime", "dissemination of false information through computer systems" and "contempt of a constituted body".
The conclusions of these investigations were filed on March 25. Mohamed Bousfiha risks heavy sanctions if the media regulatory authority initiates proceedings against him. He was released after paying a bail of 100,000 dirhams.
