The events took place in the night from Saturday to Sunday just after midnight, in Metz. The machete brawl occurred in two stages, near the Place de la République in the city center of Metz and then, late in the evening, on Rue Paul-Dassenoy in the La Patrotte district of Metz-Nord, reports Le Républicain Lorrain. A 27-year-old Moroccan homeless man was injured in the arm, with two blows from a blunt weapon.
The emergency services who arrived on the scene took care of the victim. The latter was admitted to the Claude-Bernard clinic and underwent surgery. During his hearing, the Moroccan told the investigators that he was attacked by strangers for a fallacious reason. He will be summoned for a new hearing.
