Hollywood Strike Halts ’Gladiator 2’ Production in Morocco, Threatening Release Date

The filming of the American-British film Gladiator 2 in Ouarzazate, Morocco has been interrupted due to the Hollywood actors’ strike, which could delay its scheduled release on November 22, 2024.
After the Malta stage in June, the filming of the Gladiator sequel has taken up residence in Ouarzazate, Morocco. But the production is now on forced hold, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. The origin of this interruption is the strike of Hollywood actors united within the SAG-AFTRA. They have joined the screenwriters and have started an unprecedented strike against the studios. The issue is the loss of earnings due to streaming distribution and the fear of artificial intelligence (AI).
This strike is also impacting nine other major Hollywood productions. These are Deadpool 3, Beetlejuice 2, the legal thriller Juror#2, Lilo & Stitch, Minecraft, Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, Venom 3, Mortal Kombat 2, as well as the Apple film on Formula 1, Apex.
