Al Hoceima Implements Lockdown as COVID-19 Cases Surge in Moroccan City

Faced with the resurgence of Covid-19 infections, the Monitoring and Monitoring Committee at the provincial level of Al Hoceima has opted for new preventive measures.
In a press release, the Committee explained that its approach aims to preserve the health of the populations of the municipality. "Given the worrying increase in coronavirus infections, measures have been taken to deal with the spread of the coronavirus pandemic at the municipal level and protect the health of citizens".
According to the Committee, the measures will be effective from Sunday, November 1 at 9 p.m. until the improvement of the province’s infection index. From now on, to leave or access the territory of the province, a derogatory travel certificate is essential. Also, the organization of meetings, weddings, funerals or any type of gathering in all public spaces is prohibited.
The Committee also decided to close neighborhood sports fields and public gardens, as well as shopping centers, shops, restaurants and cafes at 9 p.m. All television broadcasts are also prohibited in cafes and restaurants, adds the same source. In addition, a curfew will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. As for schools, they will be required to provide their courses remotely.
In addition to these various provisions, the authorities remind the populations of the obligation to also respect the usual preventive measures, including the wearing of masks, social distancing and safety instructions.
