Historic Lincoln Hotel Collapse Disrupts Casablanca Tramway Service

Part of the ruins of the Lincoln Hotel collapsed on Friday, December 18, 2020, near the Tramway passage. To ensure the safety of the population, traffic on Tramway Line 1 has been interrupted.
This building, classified as heritage a few years ago, is now only a vestige of the past. It also represents a permanent danger for the surrounding populations, especially for the Tramway passengers, whose platform is already receiving some falling stones.
"Major disruption on line T1! (...) only the Sidi Moumen / Hay Mohammadi and Lissasfa / Hassan II sections are served today," the Casa Tramway statement said.
"The central section of line T1 will not be served until the security of this Lincoln Hotel construction site is secured," the statement said.
In ruins for many years and maintained by a meager scaffold, the mythical hotel was to be rehabilitated by the local authorities under the pressure of civil society and associations, particularly Casa Mémoire.
