Hervé Renard Sextortion Case: Two Sentenced in Morocco for Blackmail Attempt

Victim of sextortion, former Atlas Lions coach Hervé Renard sued in court two individuals from Oued Zem, who had posed as a Lebanese woman in order to extort money from him. The defendants were sentenced to prison on Thursday.
The defendants were prosecuted for "attempted fraud and obtaining money with threats of disclosing private information", "participation in fraud", "fraud" and for "filming a person in a private place without their consent", reports the website Alyaoum24.
In its verdict, the court sentenced the main defendant to a 30-month prison sentence with a fine of 5,000 dirhams, while his accomplice received a similar fine but a much shorter sentence, 3 months in prison.
On February 18, the Court of First Instance of Oued Zem had taken up a case where Hervé Renard claimed to be the victim of blackmail. Two men would have demanded from him the payment of the sum of 100,000 dirhams, under penalty of broadcasting his compromising photos and videos on the web. The French coach had engaged in a virtual relationship with the two hackers, who were posing as a woman living in Lebanon.
