Heavy Snowfall Prompts Crisis Response in Midelt Province, Morocco

A crisis cell has been set up in the province of Midelt so that the region can cope with the enormous difficulties caused by the cold wave.
The crisis cell was set up at the prefecture headquarters and includes, among others, civil society actors, the Royal Gendarmerie, the relevant government services as well as representatives of local authorities.
The snowfall that hit the region was so heavy that it led to the closure of National Road 13, reports 2M, which points out that to free it, according to Mohamed Mrini, provincial delegate of the Equipment, "thirteen snowplows and other equipment" had to be mobilized.
Thanks to this operation, users are benefiting from the reopening of National Road 13, in particular at the level of the small towns of Zaïda.
For his part, Badr Ben Lakhel, head of the interior affairs division of Midelt, reassured the 155,800 inhabitants of the 19 douars affected by this snowfall on the measures taken by the authorities. He also said that "583 women who should give birth in the next few days" will receive special follow-up.
