Health Workers in Morocco Protest Unequal Distribution of Covid-19 Bonuses

Health personnel are not satisfied with the Covid-19 bonus granted by the Ministry of Health to frontline employees. The approach adopted in "the management of the Covid-19 allowance" has been strongly criticized by the National Union of Public Health.
"The ministry’s approach goes beyond common sense and the logic that our union has repeatedly emphasized. The treatment should be based on equity and equality in terms of incentives for health cadres, ensuring that each one can benefit according to specific standards," the union stressed.
In this time of crisis, health professionals have been more solicited, exposed and stressed than ever. The absence of annual leave and the solidarity deduction for 3 months have not discouraged the staff, adds the Union, noting that several cases of contamination and burnout have been recorded in its ranks.
"The union refuses to deviate from the methodology agreed last August with the Minister of Health. Before the payment of the Covid-19 bonuses, the criteria, the value and the list of beneficiaries must be approved in advance," the statement said.
