Health Ministry Uncovers Widespread Violations in Morocco’s Private Clinics

Inspection missions of private clinics, carried out by teams from the Ministry of Health, revealed violations of the regulations in force. The control particularly concerns clinics that have been the subject of complaints for exactions and overcharging.
According to the daily Assabah, the members of the inspection commissions posed as relatives of patients with complications requiring surgical intervention.
The investigation revealed a significant number of violations of clinic regulations, including the lack of display of service rates. In addition, members of the Commission were required to deposit funds or a guarantee check before the intervention.
Furthermore, the Ministerial Commission highlighted several infractions, especially in terms of pricing of health services. The rate for intensive care services exceeds 4,500 dirhams in the clinic in question, while the reference price is set at 1,500 dirhams.
The Commission noted a difference of at least 1,000 dirhams between the rates charged by the clinic and the reference rates. As an example, an eye examination, estimated at 500 dirhams, is billed at 2,000 dirhams in the clinic in question.
