Health Authorities Seize Sheep Fed Poultry Waste Ahead of Eid al-Adha

As Eid Al Adha approaches, the authorities are stepping up health checks on animals, particularly the feeding of sheep destined for sacrifice.
These operations carried out by a team from the Joint Commission made up of veterinarians from the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) and representatives of the local authorities made it possible to seize a large quantity of droppings belonging to a breeder from the province of Khénifra, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya.
In addition, forty-two sheep suspected of being fattened by poultry droppings were also seized, the ONSSA statement said, noting that the droppings were destroyed while the public prosecutor’s office opened an investigation against the breeder of these animals.
It should be recalled that from June 1 to July 15, 2022, the Office has prohibited the circulation of droppings, in order to prevent any fraudulent use, particularly for the fattening of sheep and goats intended for Eid Al Adha.
