He launches his company in his garage in Morocco; his stake is now worth $1.6 billion
At 31, Mohammed Bouzoubaa launched TGCC in his home garage. Thirty-five years later, the shares he owns in the Moroccan construction giant are worth approximately $1.6 billion.
The story began in 1991. After several years in the construction sector, Mohammed Bouzoubaa decided to work for himself and set up TGCC in his home garage, reports Billionaires.Africa. TGCC’s official website confirms that the group was founded that year.
During its first eight years, the company carried out relatively modest contracts. It scaled up in 1999 after winning the contract to build the Fès stadium. In 2010, its revenue exceeded one billion dirhams for the first time, before it began its international expansion.

TGCC is now involved in some of the Kingdom’s largest construction projects. The group notably worked on the expansion of Terminal 1 at Mohammed V Airport, Casa-Port railway station, the Grand Stade de Tanger and the Grand Théâtre de Casablanca.
Its listing on the Casablanca Stock Exchange in December 2021 now makes it possible to measure precisely the value of the shares held by its founder.
More than 14 billion dirhams in shares
As of August 24, Billionaires.Africa attributed 19,290,816 TGCC shares to Mohammed Bouzoubaa, representing 55.63% of the capital, based on data compiled by MarketScreener. At a price of 775 dirhams, this stake represented 14.95 billion dirhams, or approximately $1.62 billion.
This sum does not correspond to a complete estimate of his wealth. It represents only the stock-market value of his TGCC shares, without taking into account any other assets he may hold or his personal debts, which are not public.
The latest shareholder structure published by the Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC) still attributes 60.97% of the capital to Mohammed Bouzoubaa as of December 31, 2025. The 55.63% figure cited by Billionaires.Africa is therefore based on more recent market data, but this data has not yet appeared on the AMMC profile.

The decline in the share price since August 24 does not fundamentally change the order of magnitude. On Friday, September 4, the TGCC share closed at 740 dirhams, according to BMCE Capital Bourse. Based on the 19.29 million shares recorded, the founder’s stake remains valued at 14.28 billion dirhams, or approximately $1.55 billion.
Mohammed Bouzoubaa thus joins, on paper, his major competitor M’hammed Kabbaj, head of SGTM, whose listed shares have also surpassed the billion-dollar threshold. The two groups are currently working on several major projects, including the future terminal at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca.
Yet Mohammed Bouzoubaa still does not appear in Forbes or Bloomberg’s global billionaire rankings. The value of his stake in TGCC alone nevertheless places him well above the billion-dollar mark.
