Hansi Flick Barça Gessime Yassine Strasbourg Transfer

FC Barcelona reportedly placed Gessime Yassine among young players capable of strengthening its wings. At 20 years old, the Moroccan currently plays for Racing Club de Strasbourg, which he joined in January 2026.

According to Fichajes.net, Hansi Flick reportedly asked Catalan scouts to closely monitor his progress. The Barça coach would be attracted by his pace, his ability to provoke defenders and his capacity to play multiple attacking positions.

Left-footed, Gessime Yassine plays mainly on the right flank, from where he can cut inside. He is also capable of playing on the left, a versatility that would offer more solutions to the German coach’s system.

The young Moroccan international would fit Barça’s sporting strategy, which aims to combine immediately productive players with talents still capable of progressing and gaining value.

Strasbourg firmly holds onto its Moroccan gem

A potential deal appears complicated, however. Strasbourg had recruited Gessime Yassine from Dunkerque for approximately 7 million euros and had him sign a contract running until June 2030.

The Alsatian club would therefore not be willing to quickly sell a player it considers a future asset. The length of his commitment and his potential place Strasbourg in a strong negotiating position.

Facing financial constraints, Barça could be forced to imagine a deal including bonuses, staggered payments or a percentage on a potential resale to limit the amount paid immediately.

Hansi Flick does not yet see Gessime Yassine as a star destined to impose himself immediately, but rather as a player to develop gradually in a highly competitive environment.

The Moroccan still needs to gain consistency, improve his decision-making in the final third and become more decisive in front of goal. His change of pace and boldness could nevertheless be useful weapons against compact defenses.

No official offer or negotiations have been announced at this stage. Barça would currently be limited to gathering information on the player and assessing the cost of a potential deal, while Strasbourg has no obligation to sell.
