Hackers Target Middle East: Moroccan Officials Among 240 Victims in "Gaza Band" Cyberattack

Cyber-hackers calling themselves the "Gaza Band" are said to have hacked several accounts of Moroccan individuals and structures, as well as other nationalities, all of whom have political interests in the Middle East in common.

5 of them were hacked in Morocco, and 240 in total, in several countries, including Jordan, Libya, Syria, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Egypt, but especially Palestine, as 110 victims of this band of hackers are from there.

Al Massae, the source of this information, specifies that these are mostly political parties, or members, government and diplomatic representatives, but also embassies, media, banks and even schools that have been hacked. All these people and entities would have political interests in the Middle East.

To do this, the pirates install malware on their computers (by sending them emails), and thus have access to all kinds of important information. It is the Kaspersky Lab company that discovered what was going on.

The same specialized company specifies that this band of hackers is in fact structured in three distinct groups, according to their skills and the means at their disposal, ranging from the best to the lesser capabilities.

Kaspersky Lab has shared its data with governments so that the necessary measures can be taken to put an end to this mass computer hacking with, according to what can be understood, political objectives or parallel to politics.
