Hackers Exploit Electronic Lottery System in Morocco, Netting $65,000 in Fraudulent Winnings

Two women and a sales agent, prosecuted for fraud, scam and attack on the automated data processing system, were referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Rabat. The accused managed to hack the computer system of an electronic lottery company.
Experts in computer science, the two women, aged 37 and 44, collected no less than 660,000 dirhams, but illegally. Their modus operandi? The two hackers multiplied the bets on a multitude of electronic accounts, some of which are already open on the platform, using data from international cards suspected of being hacked.
The preliminary investigation, conducted by the judicial police in collaboration with cybercrime agents, made it possible to trace back the network of hackers made up of 2 women and a sales agent. A true enthusiast of gambling games, the main suspect kept only a portion of the money in her personal account.
The 3 accused were placed in pre-trial detention, pending the completion of the judicial investigation opened under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in order to determine the ramifications of the hacking network.
