Government Chief El Othmani Accused of Stalling Key Judicial Reform Bills

Head of Government Saâd-Eddine El Othmani is accused of violating the constitution by blocking the adoption of bills. Mae El Ainine, an Islamist MP, cited several bills languishing in government drawers.
The PJD parliamentarian notably mentioned the law on judicial organization and the law on updating the criminal procedure code that are languishing in government drawers, reports Assabah. The MP justifies the freezing of these bills by power struggles or due to their rejection by the Constitutional Court. She attributes the delay in revising the law on judicial organization to a dispute between the executive and judicial powers.
On her Facebook account, the Islamist MP stated that the parliamentarians have exhausted all procedures to demand the presentation of certain bills whose development has required major efforts and lengthy discussions within the parliament. "Unfortunately, several of their provisions have been rejected by the constitutional court for violation of the Constitution. Others have been lost in the drawers of the government or in its administration as far as draft bills that have been frozen for years despite the multiple promises made by the Executive," confided Mae El Ainine.
The MP recalls that this "real legislative crisis" has led to the violation of the Constitution and the blocking of the process of executing the laws. According to the deputy of the lamp party, the government has submitted the organic law to the Council of Ministers to invoke the unconstitutionality of the laws for many months without reintroducing this law to Parliament. She pleads again for the Executive to submit this law to Parliament before the end of the legislative term.
In addition to the law on judicial organization, the modernization and updating project of the criminal procedure code has also suffered the same fate, the same source points out.
