Global Ranking Spotlights Moroccan Pool Among World's Most Extraordinary

A pool located in Morocco is ranked among the 12 most extraordinary pools in the world.

In her new sumptuous book, journalist Stefanie Waldek has established Swimming Pools: The World’s Best, to be published by Lannoo. It is a "visual exploration" of the best pools in the world - a selection of 200 of the most extraordinary. Based on this ranking, MailOnline Travel has published the top 12 most extraordinary pools in the world. "Discover pools that are architectural gems that push the boundaries of traditional pool design. [...] Through stunning photography and informative text, the book highlights the design concepts and unique features of these pools, and serves as a travel guide specially created for those seeking remarkable pool experiences," comments the publisher.

The underground pool of the La Mamounia hotel occupies the 5th place in the top 12 of the most extraordinary pools on the planet. "La Mamounia is the place to stay in Marrakech: the 206-room establishment opened in 1923, welcoming top-tier clients then as it does today. I would say every element of the hotel is photogenic, but it’s the underground pool that takes your breath away," comments Stefanie Waldek.

With three extraordinary pools, the St. Regis Hotel, Bora Bora in Polynesia tops the ranking. Fairmont Maldives, Sirru Fen Fushia, the longest infinity pool in the Maldives, takes second place. The immense 8-hectare, 3.5-meter-deep pool in Algarrobo (Chile), containing 270 million liters of saltwater, takes third place. It is followed by Cascate Del Mulino (Italy). The pool of the Taj Lake Palace (India) palace built in the 18th century occupies the sixth place. Then come the infinity pool overlooking the savanna of Zannier hotels Omaanda (Namibia), the pool of the Beverly Hills Hotel (Los Angeles), the pool of the villa honegg hotel, Lake Lucerne (Switzerland) and the private pool of Katikies Chromata (Santorini). The pool of the Titanic Mardan Palace (Turkey) resort and the pool of Ol Malo (Kenya) close the podium.
