Gabonese President Ali Bongo Set to Return Home After Months of Recovery in Morocco

This time, the departure is final. The President of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba, will leave Morocco after several months of convalescence following a stroke.
In a statement, the presidency spokesperson said: "The President of the Republic, Head of State, Ali Bongo Ondimba, will leave Morocco to return to Gabon this Saturday, March 23." He is pleased to return among his compatriots, he specified, and "warmly thanks (...) the King, Mohammed VI, for the quality of his welcome and the invaluable support provided throughout his stay."
The Gabonese president had arrived in Morocco at the end of November after more than a month of hospitalization at King Faisal Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He had made two short visits to Gabon before returning to the kingdom.
On vacation last December in his Ekwata lodge, at the Denis point, King Mohammed VI is said to have "worked to calm the ardor of some and others" by meeting several officials including Marie Madeleine Mborantsuo, the President of the Constitutional Court, Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou, the Vice President, and Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet, the Prime Minister.
