Marrakech Café Shooting: Death Sentences Upheld for Dutch Attackers

The criminal chamber of the Marrakech Court of Appeal has confirmed the death sentences handed down to the perpetrators of the shooting at the "La Crème" café in Marrakech. The two Dutch G.E and J.G had been sentenced to death for their role in the shooting targeting this café located in an upscale neighborhood of the ochre city.

This case has caused an uproar in the city and in Morocco. The sentences include 15 years in prison for Mustapha F., the owner of the café, 8 years in prison for his brother, 10 years in prison for J.T, considered the mastermind behind this attack, and detention orders for three other people.

This decision puts an end to a judicial process that has lasted several years and has seen severe sentences handed down to those responsible for the attack that caused the death of two innocent people.

It should be noted that even if the Moroccan justice system pronounces death sentences, they have not been carried out in the country for about thirty years and the country is even moving towards their abolition.
