Ftour camping: a new trend to break the fast in Morocco

In Casablanca and Rabat, many Moroccans are rushing to the beaches for "Ftour camping" during the month of Ramadan. A boon for merchants.
"This type of service is attracting more and more customers, last year the month of Ramadan allowed us to make a turnover of 30,000 Dirhams," confides to Maroc Diplomatique, Fatima Zahra Moutaouakkil. With less than 1,000 Dirhams, she and her friend Souhaila Laouzi created their own business in 2022. They offer a "Ftour camping" quite different from the usual one: Ftours with spaces arranged according to various themes. In 2023, they served no less than two hundred customers during Ramadan.
The trigger happened during an exchange. "The idea came during an exchange with Souhaila, we then decided to take action even though our financial resources were not substantial," recounts Zahra. She will add: "Generally, orders come in from the second week of Ramadan, It is true that competition tends to impact us, but we remain optimistic, because the touch we bring sets us apart from the others."
Like them, other young people offer "Ftour camping" during the sacred month where many people choose to break the fast outside, far from their homes, on the beaches. They take the opportunity to indulge in all kinds of leisure activities: play sports, play cards, or play guitar.
