French Singer Mennel Seeks Fresh Start After ’The Voice’ Controversy

The 24-year-old French singer, Mennel, made her media comeback on Cyril Hanouna’s "Balance Ton Post" program on Thursday, March 5. She says she now wants to turn the page on controversies to focus on her music career.
In 2018, the singer had enchanted the public and the coaches during her performance on The Voice. But she will later make controversial tweets that will earn her the wrath of Internet users. She ends up leaving the show.
On "Balance Ton Post" last Thursday, she says she has "more mental strength" today to face criticism. According to her, the fact that she is Muslim and wears a veil were the cause of her public lynching. "Everyone makes mistakes, but it’s variable geometry: we want to make those we want to pay pay," said the one who has given up wearing the veil.
Mennel now wants to lead a life away from controversies. "If ever they (the media) are interested in talking about my music, welcome. If it’s, for the umpteenth time, to assimilate me to socio-political problems, no thank you. Because I am an artist," the singer insists. Her wish, she will say, is to be "a model of resilience."
