Controversial Journalist Reaffirms Inflammatory Veil Comments, Supports Teen Critic of Islam

On C8, journalist Mohamed Sifaou, very critical of Islam, reiterated a shocking statement he had made about the veil, before expressing his support for Mila, the 16-year-old high school student who attacked the Muslim religion in a video that went viral on social media.
"The veil is a dishcloth and I wipe my shoes with it," reaffirmed journalist Mohamed Sifaoui, on the set of "Balance ton post" on C8, devoted to the Mila affair. "I stand in solidarity with the victim. As soon as she is threatened, I am Mila because I am part of an old tradition. [...] Nothing can justify that a 16-year-old girl can be expelled from school, super harassed," declared the journalist, who supports the young high school student.
"We cannot be racist against a religion. Islam is a religion. I said what I thought of it; you won’t make me regret it. Your religion, it’s shit," Mila had declared. She says she does not regret her words, because it was really her thought.
While some Internet users condemn the act, others, including personalities, express their support for the teenager, arguing that blasphemy was not illegal in France. Two hashtags appear: #JeSuisMila and #JeNeSuisPasMila.
"Shame on the public prosecutor’s office that puts the victim and her aggressors on an equal footing! Let’s support Mila against the public prosecutor’s office that has just opened an investigation against her because she dared to criticize Islam... It is those who threaten her with death that must be condemned! #JeSuisMila," fumed the deputy and president of Debout La France, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan.
