French National Arrested Near Marrakech for Violating Lockdown and Assaulting Police

A French national was arrested on Wednesday, May 27, by elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of Tahanaout, near Marrakech, for fleeing the scene, refusing to comply, insulting an authority figure, and violating the state of emergency.
During a traffic check on the road leading to Tahanaout, the French citizen, who did not have the derogatory travel certificate, would have threatened the law enforcement officers to file a complaint with the French consulate if he is not allowed to pass.
According to the Akhbarona website, the individual would have addressed, in front of witnesses, invectives, threats and insults to the agents, before fleeing towards the Royal Gendarmerie of Tahanaout where he filed a complaint for assault.
Accompanied by a patrol of gendarmes at the control point, the individual turned out to be in violation of the law by fleeing, after verbally assaulting the law enforcement officers. A counter-complaint, supported by testimonies, was filed by the Caid.
The person concerned was placed in police custody at the disposal of the public prosecutor’s office, pending his appearance before the courts for fleeing the scene, refusing to comply, insulting an authority figure, and violating the state of emergency.
