French Muslim Council Urges COVID Safety Measures for Eid Al-Adha Celebrations

The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) has invited the faithful to celebrate Eid Al Adha, which will take place on Friday, July 31, in compliance with the health safety measures related to Covid-19.
Faced with the increase in the number of Covid-19 infections recorded a few days before the celebration of Eid Al Adha, the CFCM recalls, in a press release, a number of protective measures to be respected by the faithful.
This includes the mandatory wearing of masks, compliance with physical distancing of at least 1 meter, and regular hand washing with hydroalcoholic gel.
Physical greetings such as hugs and handshakes are not recommended, the press release states, inviting vulnerable people to "perform the Eid prayer at home".
The CFCM also asks mosques with low capacity to organize themselves to sufficiently space out the prayers and asks the faithful to bring their individual prayer mats and perform their ablutions at home.
"Since the sacrificial act takes place in slaughterhouses, which are potential clusters," the CFCM encourages "sacrifice by delegation, the spread of sacrifice over three days and the delivery of sacrifices to safer points," adds the press release, which invites the faithful to pray that Covid-19 will be definitively conjugated in the past.
