French Mosques Reinstate Mask Mandates as COVID-19 Cases Surge

Faced with the resurgence of Covid-19 cases in France, the Grand Mosque of Lyon has decided to reintroduce the mandatory wearing of masks.
This decision was made in response to numerous calls from the Ministry of Health to respect barrier gestures in public places and enclosed spaces, the mosque said.
In addition to this measure, the same source specifies, physical distancing will also be applied within the place of worship.
A few days before the celebration of Eid al-Adha, calls for caution are multiplying in the mosques. Worshippers are urged to respect barrier gestures and wear masks during the large religious gatherings that are traditionally organized to celebrate the holiday.
