French Justice Minister to Visit Morocco, Bolstering Bilateral Ties

French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin will make an official visit to Morocco this week.
The Paris-Rabat axis is being further strengthened. After the visits of French President Emmanuel Macron, French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati and President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher, French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin is expected to visit Morocco this week.
Since Paris’ recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara, Morocco and France have maintained good relations. France also plans to open a consulate in the Moroccan Sahara. An announcement made by Gérard Larcher, President of the French Senate, from Laâyoune during his official visit to Morocco at the end of February. For him, "France’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara is non-negotiable." The French elected official reaffirmed Paris’ support for the Moroccan autonomy plan, considered as a "perspective to build the present and the future of this region [the Sahara] of Morocco."
Larcher added: "This model is part of Morocco’s geostrategic vision and presents itself as an opportunity for openness and development for the surrounding states of the Kingdom."
