French Interior Minister Visits Morocco to Discuss Immigration and Security Cooperation

The French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, will travel to Rabat on Wednesday, October 14 for a working visit. Among the expected meetings, the French minister will meet with his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit.
The minister’s visit will last 48 hours with a busy agenda. The issue of the 16,000 unaccompanied minors currently in an irregular situation on French territory will be at the heart of the issues to be addressed by the two heads of state.
In addition to cooperation with Moroccan security services, Gérard Darmanin is also due to meet with the Moroccan Minister of the Interior on the subject of the fight against illegal immigration, drug trafficking and terrorism, which is one of the major components of security cooperation, not only between Morocco and France but also with several European countries.
The issue of Islam in France is also planned with the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Taoufiq, especially since President Emmanuel Macron announced on Friday, October 2, the preparation of a bill on the fight against "separatisms".
