French Institute in Morocco Unveils Innovative Solar Power Project

The project to install a self-consumption photovoltaic power plant is now a reality at the French Institute of Meknès. A first that fits well with the "Green Embassy" Plan, adopted by the French Embassy in Morocco since 2016. A plan that aims to raise awareness among the staff and the public of the French Institute of Meknès on environmental protection through the implementation of good practices and concrete actions.
This self-consumption photovoltaic power plant, equipped with 100 solar panels with a power of 27 Kwc, is capable of meeting the energy needs of the Institute during the day.
The equipment was installed from September 2 to 6, 2019 by the company, Moroccan company of Renewable energy (MorEnergy). Arranged on the roof-terrace of the language courses building of the Institute, the 100 panels are oriented due south with an optimal inclination set at 30°.
The expected annual solar production is 51.5 MWh, or 60% of the annual consumption during normal hours. The financial savings will be around 20% of the annual billing in TTC and the return on investment time is about seven years. This is an installation that, according to experts, will reduce CO2 emissions, estimated at 925 tons.
