A foreign tourist, who got lost during an expedition in the mountains of the Iznaguen region in the province of Ouarzazate, was rescued by the Royal Gendarmerie of Tazenakht, in collaboration with local authorities and civil protection elements.
Alerted by the distress calls of the foreign tourist who got lost in the mountains, security forces quickly launched a search. The tourist managed to contact his son by phone, which allowed the latter to locate his position using GPS before informing the authorities.
Before the arrival of the rescue teams, a shepherd from the region came across the tourist and alerted the competent local authorities, according to a local source, specifying that the visitor, apparently in good health, was taken to the Tazenakht health center where he underwent necessary medical examinations. Local authorities took care of his accommodation.
According to Mohamed Hamankari, an association activist and member of the Iznaguen communal council, the tourist is a 60-year-old French national. He got lost while traveling through the mountains and rough terrain of the region on a motorcycle, he said, specifying that the sexagenarian received first aid before the arrival of the Royal Gendarmerie and civil protection elements.
