French Firm NGE Secures $11 Million Moroccan Railway Contract Ahead of Macron Visit

The French group NGE, specialized in construction and public works, has recently won a contract worth 111 million dirhams to build a 52 km railway line connecting the port of Nador West to the city of Selouane.
The award of this contract to the French company follows the call for tenders launched last August by the National Railway Office (ONCF). It comes a few days before the visit to Rabat of French President Emmanuel Macron, who will be accompanied by a strong delegation of senior officials and business leaders operating in various sectors and wishing to participate in projects planned as part of the organization of the 2030 World Cup that Morocco is organizing alongside Spain and Portugal.
The railway link project, the implementation of which has been entrusted to the NGE group, is part of an ambitious project to connect the port of Nador, one of the largest in the region, to the various internal economic hubs. About 52 km long, this single-track railway line will connect the port to the Selouane bus station. The project also provides for the construction of three road bridges and two railway bridges. It will serve the new port of Nador, which will be commissioned by the end of the year and fully operational by 2027.
