French Economic Minister to Visit Morocco, Signaling Renewed Bilateral Ties

The French Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, is expected to participate in April in Rabat at the 2024 Morocco-France Business Forum, organized by the Movement of French Enterprises (MEDEF) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).
According to Africa Intelligence, Bruno Le Maire should lead the French delegation participating in this major event scheduled from April 24 to 26, 2024 in the Moroccan capital. This trip by the French Finance Minister will come after that of his counterpart in charge of diplomacy, Stéphane Séjourné, expected on February 25 in Rabat. These two visits are part of the warming of relations and mark the beginning of a new era in bilateral and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The 2024 Morocco-France Business Forum aims to strengthen trade and investment between France and Morocco. It offers an opportunity for representatives of large French and Moroccan companies to meet and discuss partnership and cooperation opportunities. "The French private sector (1,300 subsidiaries of French companies employing more than 80,000 people in Morocco, the leading destination for French FDI in Africa) is particularly concerned," says the business mission of the France-Morocco business leaders club on the presentation page of the meeting.
And to specify: "French and Moroccan companies have built significant shared value chains in industry and services. More than a market, Morocco is a country of co-production, co-industrialization and co-investment for French companies... Having made "made with Morocco" its watchword, the France-Morocco Business Leaders Club (MEDEF International & CGEM) intends to work for the development of the private sector as part of the implementation of the New Development Model (NMD) and France 2030."
The initiative testifies to the willingness of the French and Moroccan governments to strengthen their cooperation in key areas such as industry, services and innovation. It will also help stimulate new cooperation opportunities between the two countries after several months of tensions.
