French and Moroccan Port Cities Expand Partnership in Education and Sustainability

La Rochelle and Essaouira, twinned for 22 years, have signed a new cooperation agreement in the fields of vocational training, environmental protection and culture.
The cooperation between the two port cities will continue and be strengthened with this new partnership agreement that was signed on Friday, October 28 between the mayor of La Rochelle, Jean-François Fountaine, and the mayor of Essaouira, Tarik Ottmani.
The new cooperation agreement "will notably allow for exchanges between students and schoolchildren, exchanges on heritage preservation, urban planning, renewable energies, the development of a university in Essaouira and the rehabilitation of the Moroccan fishing port," indicates the town hall of La Rochelle in a press release reported by Sud Ouest.
The twinning between the two cities, consecrated since the year 2000, "has already made it possible to promote vocational training, crafts, soft mobility and awareness-raising actions for environmental protection".
